Due to an artificially created popular demand, presidential elections was held in 1981. Pres. Marcos sought
an unprecedented third term against a virtual unknown. As expected he won the elections
amidst charges of election fraud and vote buying by the local and international media.

Inauguration issue of June 12, 1981.
Prepared and printed in haste, the stamp designer Antonio Chiudian unintentionally created
a controversy when "PILIPINAS" was omitted on the stamp.
Great Britain reserves the right to issue stamps without the name of the country.

The design was never used but was considered for the 1986 Marcos inaugural issue.
The tracing paper overlay depicts Associate Chief Justice Ramon Aquino.

How ironic would that have been for an Aquino to swear in Marcos.
A dummy of the 1986 unissued stamp was prepared and is reconstructed as above.
The dummy  was probably destroyed after the EDSA People Power Revolution of February 22, 1986.
